Hair transplantation: possibilities and limitations
A transplant moves available hair from a donor area. It does not create an unlimited supply of follicles or automatically stop loss of hair that has not been transplanted.
Assessment comes before numbers
Considering a transplant requires suitable donor hair and suitable conditions in the recipient area. A price, a marketing photograph or the number of grafts offered cannot determine eligibility.
Ask how donor availability is assessed and what limits it places on your goals. Full coverage may not be realistic. A proposal should explain what could be achieved and what remains uncertain.
The process extends beyond the procedure
Other hair can continue to thin after transplantation. You may therefore need to discuss management of ongoing thinning as well as the procedure itself. Surgery does not remove every cause of future hair loss.
Clarify goals and follow-up with an experienced clinician. An online calculator cannot predict your final density, suitability or appropriate graft number.
What to ask for in writing
- Which clinical assessment supports the proposal?
- Which results and limitations have been discussed?
- Who performs the procedure, and how is follow-up organised?
- Which risks and complications are explained?
- What does the quote include, and what is excluded?
Compare what is included, without inventing a tariff
Two prices cannot be compared meaningfully if their contents are unclear. Gather the line items from real quotes and flag missing information. Price is not an automatic measure of quality. This guide has no verified survey of Italian prices and does not assign a standard cost to your care.
